Project Spotlight: The Camperdown

We’ve all heard the stories of the college library that was sinking because the architect forgot to factor in how much the books would weigh before construction started. The library changes from campus to campus because it is mainly an urban legend based on some stories of libraries that did have structural problems.

We’re leading the blog off this week with this story for one reason. That is why you hire civil engineers. It is our job to handle that kind of thing. The things that the average person never thinks about.

For example, wind resistance on a building. That is what we recently accomplished as part of the massive Camperdown Project in downtown Greenville.

We designed the structural system for the facade of the building. We attached it to the structural shell and designed it to handle the wind which would hit the building. It was very fun and cool project to be a part of.
