UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres issued a global call to action, and the World Health Assembly, the governing body of the 194 member states of the World Health Organization, unanimously passed a key resolution last May with steps to address the issue. The following month, EWB USA was the first of more than 90 non-governmental organizations, philanthropists, universities, financial institutions and corporations to announce new commitments in funding, technical assistance, training, research and advocacy.
